Inspired by the urban landscape Pearring Sound examines the outer edges of sound while maintaining a deep center of American blues, jazz and funk.

Her art projects and public outreach engage in collaborations in the nonprofit, publishing, music, and art worlds. Named Best New Visual Artist of 2013 by the Chicago Reader, her award-winning Spoils of War: Ode to a Refusenik Mother project was praised by . She was an artist in residence at the Intel Experience Store in Chicago and Brooklyn’s ArtOnBrighton. Her work is included in the collection at the Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Center, Chicago’s DANK-Haus German Cultural Center.


Vonia Arslanian New York based comedian/performance artist.


She recently had a baby who has ruined her life in the best way you could imagine a life being ruined. She will take any chance she can to get up on stage and escape from the snotty, tantrumy, violence a toddler has to offer. Vonia also helps run MomCom, a monthly Open Mic at The Creek and The Cave for moms, dads, nannies, mannies, & and anyone who has ever been around a child; hosted by the talented Emily James.
