There is no other way to usher in the month of May than by blowing it straight away!!! (i know I know, I do one rap cameo & I think I’m the bees knees.)
For months I have been waiting to have the SOHO KINGS on the show! Their sound, their energy, their flow…..hip hop meets pop rock w guitars & digital decks. It’s like the future & the past melding all at once to make beautiful melodies that are fresh w pounding beats simultaneously. Their infectious grooves will grab you & I dare you to stay still during their set! They even invited me up to do a cameo on their summertime smash, “Surfboard!” You can check them out the next few weeks at their Thurs night at midnight residency at Piano’s. (You may even see me on-stage rockin my cameo!)
We also had the pleasure of welcoming comedian, NAT TOWSON. Along with writing for VICE & College Humor Magazines, this native New Yorker will have you questioning some of your favorite childhood characters….if some of your childhood favorites included ‘The Berenstain Bears.’ Why did they just name Sister Bear, Sister…things that make you go hmmmm. You can catch this funny guy Mondays at 8pm at UCB East hosting Nat Towson’s Downtown Variety Hour.
My discussion with these performers definitely gave us some inspiring thoughts including everything from asking for help & what keeps us going in this crazy city. We may have even stumped some of them. Check it all out here, on the full episode. Enjoy & see ya next month!
